Definition of adulthood

My definition of adulthood that I tell my children is that you contribute more than you consume. I said it's not just when you get married or when you have kids because who knows what life plans will be like, but when you're ready to say, "I'm here and I'm building," and we all need to consume something, we all need things and that's fine, but you're also looking around and saying, "How can I give in my own way?"
